Monday the 16th – MONDAY MUD! – I went to do the Jay Leno Show as usual at NBC (STILL lovin’ this job!) and then I grabbed a quick hamburger at McDonald’s and headed over to MUD…the Make-Up Designory. It’s a make-up school in Burbank that was having an open house showcasing some of the students’ work. My friend Sara was one of the models being made up in the beauty and hair category (she looked GREAT!) and my friend Deverill Weekes was shooting photos, with assistance by my pal and webmaster Scott Sebring. Scott’s wife Vickie stopped by later, and I met up with my friend Michelle to look over the school. She has a keen interest in make-up as a career, so we spoke with several of the MUD advisors. While one of the students were being made up by another student with these elaborate prosthetics, we stood around and had a great conversation about Lon Chaney Sr. What fun! After that, I went over to a studio in Burbank to do a quick voice-over for a demo tape. It was a cute demo and I wish the guys luck in getting the project funded. I did a Christmas Wreath that was a bit nutty…so we did a little bit of a Christopher Lloyd voice for him. That night I did some auditions and hit the hay early!
Tuesday the 17th – TRIPLE PLAY! – I got up early and headed to Buzzy’s in Hollywood to do four new cartoons for “The Garfield Show”, now airing on Cartoon Network. It was great seeing Frank Welker, Gregg Berger, Jason Marsden, Grey DeLisle and the great Jack Riley! But I had to split to get over to The Jay Leno Show in time for the taping. When it was done, I went over to Studiopolis Burbank to do a character for a videogame (a HIGHLY popular franchise) that will be released sometime next year. In fact, this project is SO secret, they’re not even announcing that the game is in the works until next summer. It was great fun, and I got to work with the great director Jack Fletcher! When I finished I was exhausted from the day, so I met up with good friends for dinner. Emily, Ginny and Georgette and I all had some laughs and great food.
Wednesday the 18th – WACKY WEDNESDAY! – I was up early and headed to Voice Trax West to do some more spots for HH Gregg electronics stores. Then I went by my tailor’s to pick up some pants that they had attached some buttons to. I also drove by my mailbox to pick up some packages, and then I went home to get ready for the Leno Show. I got to NBC on time and did the taping, and then I headed over to church to attend the evening meditational services.
Thursday the 19th – THE MYTHICAL WALLY! – In the morning we met up at Studiopolis to record voice tracks for the final episode in the second season of “Gormiti” (now airing on Cartoon Network!). We all thought it was the final episode of the series. But we found out from our director that “Gormiti” was being renewed for 13 new episodes…a half season. Great news for all of us! Then I went home and took a quickie nap, and got into NBC to do the taping for The Jay Leno Show. I hadn’t officially met Jay before. He’s got a lot on his mind and I figured when the time is right I’d be introduced properly. I would see him in the hall and say hi, but that was it. Today, Rob – one of the head writers, told me to follow him. He said some of the writers were talking me up in the morning writer’s meeting and Jay wanted to know who this “mythical Wally” was. So Rob introduced me to Jay officially when he got off stage from warming up the audience. Rob said, “Jay, here’s the mythical Wally.” Jay smiled and shook my hand and said I was doing a great job on the show. I told him congratulations on the show and that I was having a blast. Pretty cool. He’s an even nicer guy than you’ve heard. At the end of the show Jay was back in his denim shirt as I was leaving and he tapped my elbow and said he would see me tomorrow. GREAT!
Friday the 20th – END OF THE WEEK! – I was in to the Leno show early to do a run-through of a possible new opening they want to do. When the rehearsal was over I went to Fry’s Electronics to buy a new card for my camera, some printer paper and ink cartridges. They were playing Christmas music and I have to confess, it really made me feel great! I was bouncing through the aisles with a spring in my step. I grabbed some quick food, and then headed back to NBC for the taping. It was great fun, but they decided to stick to the standard opening. I’m not sure if they’re going to do a new open, or if they were just experimenting. But I’ll be ready for anything. When I got off work, I went to a store to buy a new beanbag chair. Then I stopped by It’s a Wrap, got a great jacket, and a few gifts for friends. They were having some sort of Christmas function on Magnolia Boulevard, where It’s a Wrap resides, and there were tons of people in a festive, Christmas mood. I got home and took a nap. Then I got up late and did some things around the house, watched “Mannix” on DVD and went to bed at some point on Saturday morning.
Saturday the 21st – ERRAND DAY! – My friend Sara and I went to run some errands. I picked up a towel spa at Brookstone at the Fashion Square Mall in Sherman Oaks. As Sara and I were getting her picture with Santa, I saw Graham Nash from Crosby, Stills and Nash walk by. I yelled “Graham!” He looked and I gave him the thumbs up and said, “Love ya!” He smiled and waved and went about his shopping. COOL! We also stopped by the craft store to work on a few projects I have going, and then we headed home. Blu Ray Trek night was fun. D.C. Fontana (whom I refer to as the ‘Ray Bradbury’ of my generation) dropped by to watch two of her episodes she wrote for the original “Star Trek.” It’s fun to hear her live commentary as we watch the episodes. Later my friend Misty came by with her husband Paul Dini, who’s a wonderful animation writer and producer. His biggest credit was the Batman animated series in the 90’s. One of my favorites. He and Misty enjoyed seeing Planet Wallywood and we stayed up WAY late watching the Blu Rays of the animated “Grinch” and the Charlie Brown Christmas Special.
Sunday the 22nd – SUNDAY SUNSHINE! – By the time I went to bed it was early Sunday morning! The sun was WAY up! But I didn’t care. I got up in time for evening church and then had dinner with my pal Sara. That night I did some auditions, and got ready for the new week. It promises to be fairly slow as we head into the Thanksgiving Holiday. Speaking of which, HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
And how was YOUR week??!!
