RANDOM PIC OF THE WEEK

When I opened up my “Space Ghost’ figures the other day, I burst out laughing.  I don’t remember Jace wearing capri pants on the series.  Needless to say this figure is going back to the manufacturer in exchange for one that shows a little less leg.

A local AM station on 1260 recently switched from their “Great American Songbook” format to “Cruisin’ Oldies.” IT’S GREAT!  They’re playing stuff from the 50s and 60s, and they’re playing stuff I haven’t heard in decades!  (I DO wish they’d delve into the 70s as well)  On the way to get my food at Denny’s the other night, they played “Little Girl” by the Syndicate of Sound. This song brought back a lot of great memories!

Monday the 13th – MUCKED-UP MONDAY! – The ol’ trusty hotline rang at noon.  It was my agent with an urgent audition, and a booking for Tuesday.  I finished the audition, sent it in, and got another hour of sleep.  Today was the first day I would be trying acupuncture for my blocked sinus.  Dr. Chen said she’s had patients who have had great results with 3 sessions of acupuncture and some Chinese herbs she gave me.  When I got up and around, my sinus pain and pressure were pretty considerable.  My next appointment with my ENT wasn’t for another week. He wanted me to try a corticosteroid for two weeks, and I’m going to do acupuncture, so I was hoping something would work soon. I’m sick of this whole sinus thing!  If I ever get another sinus infection (GOD FORBID!) I’m going to ignore those people who say, “Just give it time to drain. Sinus infections are stubborn.”  I’m going to be very proactive in getting immediate relief.  The second acupuncture visit was fairly painful this time, and I’m not sure why.  I had acupuncture several years back about another sinus issue, and I don’t remember it being painful at all.  But I dealt with it. I went to my mailbox and got my packages, and then hit Jersey Mike’s for a sandwich. I was starving!  But when I got in my car and opened my sandwich, I pulled out a long, red hair from between the buns. I don’t recall asking for that topping! YUCK!  I tossed the entire sandwich away without taking a bite.  Frankly, that’s put me off Jersey Mike’s for a while.  I went to the Jack in the Box drive-thru and got some food to go.  I got home, did a quick audition, and then worked around the house.  I put a cold-pack on my face and took a nap.  I got up later to do my nightly auditions, typed out Wally’s  Week, fed and walked Roxy, made a Tombstone pizza, and started in on a brand new TV series for my nightly viewing…”Love American Style!”  And in the very first episode there were appearances from my late friend Yvonne Craig, the great Gail Fisher (from “Mannix”), and Flip Wilson!  Even Jane Wyatt was in an episode.  Just before I went to bed I checked the Eaglecam and found out that the little 2 month old baby eagle had fallen out of the nest.  Luckily he/she can fly a little bit, so he/she glided safely to the ground.

Tuesday the 14th – CLOCK ME IN! – When I got up at 11 I got cleaned up and headed to Voice Trax West for a quick session for 76 gas stations.  Then I hit Bed Bath and Beyond and picked up a really cool new alarm clock that has LED lights in it.  The face of the clock is spherical, and the LED lights change from color to color.  It’s PERFECT for the “Tranquility Zone!”  I dashed home and recorded a bunch of tags for the “Archer” promos I’ve been doing for the past few weeks.  I did a few other auditions, and then worked around the house.  I fed the pets, and then my assistant Sara and my trainer Natalie Duran went to Ernie’s Taco House for dinner.  When I got home I did some work, and then hit the hay for a short nap.  All the while, Sara sat downstairs and scanned my old photos.  It’s been an on-going job, because I have literally thousands of old photos that need to be scanned into my hard drive for posterity.  I got up later but there weren’t any auditions to do, since I had done them earlier.  I did some laundry and miscellaneous work around the house. I made some spaghetti and watched another episode of “Love American Style.”  My ol’ pal Larry Storch was in the episode. COOL!

Wednesday the 15th – ACUPAINFUL! – There were a few urgent auditions waiting for me in my inbox when I woke up at 2.  I did a little work, recorded the auditions, and then went to my third (and FINAL!) acupuncture appointment.  But it was very painful, and it even left a bruise on my left wrist.  Is it SUPPOSED to be this way??  OUCH!  There were needles in the sides of my nostrils, my wrists, feet, ankles, legs, etc.  I vowed to not go back again for more torture.  It felt like she was drilling 10 penny nails into my face.  In fact, the session gave me a whopper of a headache!  I went to my mailbox to get my packages, stopped by McDonalds to get some late lunch, and then went home to put ice all over my face.  I ended up napping until midnight!  This sinus thing is really zapping my energy! I did feel a little better when I got up, and I did my nightly auditions, sent out my weekly movie night invites, walked and fed Roxy. I made some pizza rolls and stuffed nachos and watched another “Love American Style.”

Thursday the 16th – A MAN OF LEISURE! – With nothing planned for the day, I lazed around the house.  My friend (and VO contemporary) Secunda Wood texted to see if I wanted to meet for lunch.  So we met at Paty’s and had a great lunch on the patio.  I drove around in the Mustang with the top down and it was gorgeous!  I got home and Sara was back at the impromptu scanning station working away.  I took a nap with a cold-pack on my face, and got up later to do my nightly auditions.  I worked around the house, and spent some time on my “Wacky Wally’s Vintage Toys” social media accounts to post some fun St. Patrick’s Day blurbs. I ate some chili and then hit the hay to be up early for a session.

Friday the 17th – HOLLYWOOD WHICH WICH WORK! – Just after 11am I was in the car and headed to Patches recording in Hollywood to do a quick session for some Which Wich commercials.  I voiced a rock and roll guitar player and it was a quick, fun session!  But my sinuses were hurting again, and it seemed like the medication just wasn’t working any more. I’m REALLY looking forward to the next appointment with my ENT on Tuesday 21st so I can plead for surgery to end this!  I felt out of sorts all day.  Not even lunch at Arby’s could make me feel better.  I stopped at the grocery store to pick up some items I needed, and some food for Saturday night’s movie night.  I got home and put the stuff away, answered e-mails, worked around the house, and then put cold-packs on my face and took a short nap.  Later I got up and met with my pal Brittney Powell so we could go to Castaways in Burbank for a birthday party.  My pal Jim Ojala’s wife Beth was having a shindig and I didn’t want to miss it.  Castaways is way atop a mountain in Burbank and it overlooks the entire valley. The view of the city is breathtaking!  I was finally starting to feel better (maybe the drugs were kicking in!?)  I was told that Castaways was once owned by Alan “The Skipper” Hale Jr., which would explain the name “Castaways.”  After the party I came home and napped, then got up later to do some work around the house. I phoned in a food order to Denny’s and drove over to get it.   I enjoyed eating it while watching another “Love American Style!”

Saturday the 18th – MIND THE GAPS! – Though I slept until 3, I was feeling pretty lazy all day.  After dealing with bronchitis, flu, sinus infection (and its nasty residual effects) I think my body is a walking pharmacy; full of medications!  I can’t wait to be free of this sinus blockage so I can spend a few months detoxing.  In an effort to scale back on the amount of meds, sometimes I’ll skip a dosage of my 12 hour Sudafed.  Bad idea.  I think the gaps are allowing the sinuses to flare up and cause pain.  So I need to stay on it religiously until this is all settled and the doctors decide what to do. It was a fun movie night with a great group of folks.  When everyone left I grabbed a short nap on the couch, then I got up to feed Roxy and Spooky.  Then I took Roxy on our late-night stroll through the neighborhood.  I came back inside and paid bills, did some bookkeeping and made my traditional Saturday Night Super Salad to enjoy while watching “Hee Haw” before bed.  What a fun show!

Sunday the 19th – SUNDAY SHANNON! – Since Sunday is my usual day of rest, I didn’t get up until 3. Of course I didn’t really get to bed until 10 that morning.  But the first thing I did was to drive to the pharmacy and get some Mucinex.  I had been on Mucinex since January.  When it ran out I took the liberty of switching to Sudafed so my body didn’t become intolerant to Mucinex and stop working.  But I just don’t think the Sudafed has been working as well as the Mucinex, so I decided to go back.  On the way back home I stopped at my auxiliary garage and swapped out the Mustang for the Torino.  I headed back home and got ready for evening church.  After the service my “adopted grandma” Shirley and I walked back to my house to meet up with my friend Emily Danyel and Sara (who was busy scanning.)  We all headed to dinner at Jerry’s Famous Deli so I could meet up with an old friend I hadn’t seen in about 35 years!  Shannon Wright used to be in our “Rocky Horror” cast back in Sioux Falls back in 1982. She was in town for a seminar, so she and her boyfriend David met us for dinner. It was great to see her and catch up again.  When I got home I grabbed a nap, and then got up later to do a TON of auditions for various animation projects.  I finished up some laundry, I plotted out the new, upcoming week, made a pot pie, and watched another episode of “Love American Style” before bed.

And how was YOUR week??!!

PIX FROM THE WEEK

After the Eaglet fell out of the nest, he/she was grounded until he/she figured out a way to get back up to the nest. In the meantime, Mom and Dad brought him food. Mom feeds the Eaglet, while Dad stands guard. Ain’t nature wonderful?

Did I mention how cruel my personal trailer Natalie Duran is? Just because she’s an “American Ninja Warrior” she thinks she can eat copious amounts of candy while I sweat away with the weights! Cruel!
