This past week I’ve been humming in a visual sense as well as an audio sense. Not only is the song catchy, but I can’t get this video out of my mind. It’s one of the best ever. The group OK Go was on “The Tonight Show” recently and their song “End Love” was so catchy I caught a few of the staff humming it after the show. I searched You Tube for the video and like all their other videos, It’s nothing short of ground-breakingly spectacular! (I LOVE THAT GOOSE!)

Monday the 14th – MILD MONDAY! – I relaxed for the first part of the day today, then went to my job at “The Tonight Show” mid afternoon. On the way home I got some supplies for my new bicycle…messenger bag, light, lock & bell that’s shaped like a cheeseburger. I’m all set to go! Now I just need a nice day and plenty of time to take my bicycle test flight to NBC to see how long it will take me! That evening I grabbed a nap and then got up that night to do my bank statements and record some auditions for my agent.
Tuesday the 15th – GARFIELD WINDING DOWN! – Today was the third to last session for the second season of “The Garfield Show.” I can’t believe that we’ve done three direct-to-DVD movies, and almost two full seasons of Garfield cartoons. The time really flies when you’re having fun! I’m going to miss these when they’re done, but who knows…maybe we’ll be back for more!!!??? After Garfield I sped home to record another session in my home studio for Go Daddy. Then I hightailed it over to NBC for “TTS.” In the mail that day, I received “Flash Gordon” on Blu Ray. I’ve always loved that movie, and now that it’s on Blu Ray I’m itchin’ to see what the print looks like. It’s always been on my Blu Ray want-list. But my stupid DVD player doesn’t like Universal Blu Rays for some reason. Last week I had trouble with the Wolfman tripping up on my machine, and now “Flash” did the same thing. I guess Universal is using something in their encoding that a machine like mine (only 1.5 years old!) doesn’t like. So, I may be buying a new Blu Ray machine.
Wednesday the 16th – WEDNESDAY ON THE GO! – Early in the morning I got to Disney Character Voices in Burbank to narrate a new game for pre-schoolers that will be on their website soon. I’ll give you more details after it’s posted, and I’ll provide a link to it as well. It’s always fun to work with the folks over there. When I was finished I stopped home quick, and then went to Regenix in Beverly Hills to have them look at how my hair is doing. I’ve been doing the treatment for a little over two years, and my hair under the microscope looks terrific. It’s clean, fat, and the bulbs and roots looks great. I’m going to keep doing what I’m doing and see how it improves over the next year. When I got done I dropped by Wendy’s and got lunch, and then went to NBC for “TTS.” After the show I went to Best Buy with my “Wolfman” and “Flash Gordon” Blu Ray discs, and made them play the movies in the new model of their Blu Ray players. They both worked perfectly, so I bought the new machine. The firmware upgrade for the machine I already owned wasn’t due until mid-July and I didn’t want to wait to see these movies.
Thursday the 17th – TEST FLIGHT! – My electrician Electric Bob came by to grab the paperwork for my new air conditioning system in my house, and my A/V tech Mark Ackerman came by to install my new Blu Ray player. All went well and we’re all set to watch “Flash Gordon” Saturday night! But the exciting part of the day was my test flight with my new bicycle! It was a beautiful, cool and breezy day. I had the time to make the trip to NBC and see how long it would take. I started a good hour before I needed to be to work at “TTS,” so packed up my messenger bag and hit the road. It felt great! I’ve put literally tens of thousands of miles on bicycles throughout my life with paper routes, going to school, back and forth to work at the radio station, etc. – so it was like being with an old friend again. The ride was going well. I noticed that my tires looked a little “soft,” and I didn’t know if I should be concerned or not. But everything was going great. The cars were being very courteous and careful. When I got to NBC I pulled up into the driveway and one of the guards there smiled and waved. I pulled up to her and check my phone for the time. I had made the 4 mile trip in 24 minutes, and that was with a lot of stoplights! That was about 6 miles a minute. When I drove to NBC it takes me about 15-20 minutes! I felt like I wanted to keep riding but I locked my bike and went into work. It was exhilarating! The ride home went well, but there was more traffic as it was getting into L.A. afternoon drive time. I was also battling a headwind. I kept to the sidewalks part of the time since the traffic was so backed up it didn’t look like I was going to be able to squeeze in between the line of cars and the parked cars on the side of the road. I stopped off at the bike store on the way home to pick up a water bottle holder and a bottle, a security cable, and I had them look at my tires. Sure enough the psi was low. They pumped it up to about 60 which is ideal. I headed home and felt great. It’s going to be a great summer!
Friday the 118th – THE WEEKEND IS NEAR! – I got up in the morning because I wanted to order something off the internet that was being released this day. I did, then went to Elaine Craig Casting in Hollywood to audition for a commercial. I saw a lot of great folks there including Colleen O’Shaunessy, who plays Wasp in the new “Avengers” cartoon. (Wasp is the girlfriend of my character Ant Man). Then I went to Voice Trax West to do another commercial for HH Gregg. Then I stopped by my mailbox to grab my mail. I got home just in time to do a Pepsi audition in my home studio and e-mail it to my agent. I wasn’t going to have time to bike to NBC today (besides my legs were hurting!) so I got in the car and went to my Chiropractor’s office for my bi-weekly adjustment. I made it to NBC in time, did the show and headed home. I grabbed a nap for awhile, then Sara and I had a late dinner at DuPar’s in Studio City.
Saturday the 19th – SWEET SWEET SATURDAY! – I rested all afternoon, but got a call later from Scott Sebring, my pal and webmaster. He was in the area so we went to dinner at Panera in Studio City and met up with Sara there. We got back to my house and people had started showing up for Blu Ray Trek night, and “Flash Gordon.” Dorothy Fontana (D.C. Fontana to Trek fans) came over with her husband Denny and we watched an episode for the third season that she wrote. It’s always fun to get her commentary live as the episode plays. But the new Blu Ray machine was giving us a little movie camera icon in the upper right hand corner to let us know that there was another angle of the scene available. I remember having to disable that when I got my first Blu Ray player, but for some reason we weren’t able to do it with this machine. So if there’s no way to do that, I’m taking the machine back and getting a refund. I’ll install my old machine again and just not watch any Universal movies until the firmware upgrade comes in. Sheesh… technology! It was a fun evening though! And “Flash Gordon” looked terrific!
Sunday the 20th – HAPPY FATHER’S DAY! – I woke up mid-afternoon and called my dad. Then as I was wrapping up the call with him, I saw that my son Zak was calling in. It was great to talk to them, and I’ll be seeing them in about a week, when I go back for my grandma’s 98th birthday, and the CONvergence convention in Minneapolis. I drove my bike to church later that day, and then took a little ride. I grabbed a nap, and then hung out with my friend Georgette for awhile. All in all a great weekend!
