RANDOM PIC OF THE WEEK

Any 80’s fan will totally get this!

Every June 3rd I think of the Neil Diamond song “Desiree” – simply because of the opening lyric “It was the third of June.” However, he goes on to say that the third of June is a summer’s day, but technically summer doesn’t start until mid-to-late June.

Monday the 3rd – POST-MONSTER! – After a wild, fun weekend at Monsterpalooza, it was great to get some good sleep. When I arose I put the last of my convention stuff away, did some work on the computer, and set about organizing the photos and videos from the weekend. I headed to my box to get a package, and then I spent some alone, quiet time at Paty’s enjoying a salad. I came back home to do some more work around the house, and I grabbed a short nap. I got up later and did a ton of auditions, took my nightly WOG (walk/jog), and spent some time reflecting and meditating outside in my anti-gravity chair. It was absolutely gorgeous out in the middle of the night. It was overcast, warm, and quiet. I came back inside to write Wally’s Week, then I made a salad and watched the episode of “Collector’s Call” on my DVR.

Tuesday the 4th – HULK/FRANKENSTEIN?! – It was another relaxing, productive day around Planet Wallywood. Later in the day my pal Amanda let me know she was in town and we met for dinner at Bob’s Big Boy, as we usually do when she’s in the area. Later I recorded my daily auditions, took my nightly WOG, spent some time in the anti-grav chair, and came back inside to make a salad and watch the first two episodes of the fourth season of “The Incredible Hulk.” It was called “Prometheus,” and there were a TON of Frankenstein references and influences in that episode. It was fun flagging them all!

Wednesday the 5th – STILL RELAXIN’! – Today was just one of those days where I wanted to sleep the day away. I did a little work around the house later, scanned some checks for a deposit, recorded more auditions, took my nightly WOG, and spent some quality time outside enjoying the quiet night in my anti-grav chair. I felt very enriched and blessed.

Thursday the 6th – BACK TO PHOTO ALBUMS! – After a quick stop at the bank to drop off some deposits, I stopped at the grocery store to pick up much-needed supplies. I hit CVS to pick up some medicinal things, and then drove over to Paty’s to enjoy a salad on the patio. It was a gorgeous day. We’re in the middle of May Gray/June Gloom here in L.A., but right around mid-afternoon everything clears up nicely. It’s great to see the sun again. Later in the evening I relaxed, recorded my nightly auditions, took a brisk WOG, spent some time in the anti-grav chair, and spent the rest of the evening recalibrating and revisiting my L.A. photo album project. There are a lot of different ways I could go with it, and I just have to put some brainpower to it to ascertain which is the best way to go; narratively speaking.

Friday the 7th – GOOD FUN, GOOD FOOD, GOOD FRIENDS: THERE ARE NO ACCIDENTS IN LIFE! – My maids came over early in the afternoon to clean up Planet Wallywood, and after they left I called my old pal Chris Malmin to see if he wanted to meet me for a late lunch at Paty’s. At 3 I pulled up in front of the restaurant and saw my pals from the Alex In Wonderland studios just arriving – coincidentally. But since I don’t really believe in coincidences, I took the opportunity to invite Mike & Alex and their daughter to sit with Chris and I. It was a gorgeous, sunny day out, so we got a big table on the sunny side of the patio. As I walked in I saw my Voice Actor buddy Robin Atkin-Downes. I hadn’t seen him in a long time! My buddy Tony O. was just leaving the restaurant, so I got a chance to see him again. And one of the ladies from the old evening service at my church was just leaving the restaurant. It was great to see Barbara Ann again and catch up. We haven’t had the rock-n-roll evening service at my church since before the plandemic, so it was good to see her. My pal Bat Pat Evans called to see when I would be around so he could give me a few things. I told him to drop by Paty’s as we were apparently having an impromptu party! He brought me a very nice Riddler bobblehead that he had picked up at the George Barris sale that was held at his garage shortly after his passing a few years ago. I had never seen a bobblehead like that. It was terrific! We all chatted for about 3 hours and had a terrific time. I love hanging out with fun, creative people. It was the end to a very restful week. Later I did my nightly WOG, and spent my usual time of reflection and gratitude in my anti-grav chair. I came back inside and spent the rest of the night editing photos for my photo album project. I randomly opened a drawer in one of my file cabinets and spotted a few folders marked WALLY and PHOTOS. I opened them up and I couldn’t believe what I found! I found some amazing photos that I had filed away and forgotten about. A lot of the photos were prints and contact sheets from various headshot sessions I had done over the years. Headshots from 1994, 1997, and some from more recent times were all there. If I didn’t have the corresponding negatives, I scanned the contact sheets and isolated each frame to have printed later. I’ve got a LOT of work to do! I found some other celebrity photos and other gems. It was like finding hidden treasure!

Saturday the 8th – PHOTO ALBUM PHUN! – My buddy Officer Mark dropped by in the evening so we could hit Little Toni’s for dinner and he could tell me about his day at the Hollywood Show. He got a photo with Lee Majors, and had met several other celebrities at this show. After dinner we walked across the street to Randy’s Donuts and picked up a few donuts for dessert. When we came back to Planet Wallywood Mark tried to help determine if I have the Disney + app on my TV. I’d like to get Disney + for just a month so I can watch the Jim Henson documentary. But no dice. I’ll call Brandon my A/V guy and see if he can come by soon and get me hooked up. I’m dying to see that film! Later I took my WOG and enjoyed the subsequent time in the anti-grav chair. When I came back inside I got busy working on the photo albums again. I thought I had completely finished the first one, but now that I unearthed all of those photos I had forgotten I had, I had some more work to do. I even found some old South Dakota photos that I had forgotten about, so I had to get a few of my South Dakota photo albums out and add pages to that. I obsess over details and completion. I got an email from my internet company which informed me that my internet may be interrupted Sunday night from midnight to 6am Monday morning due to some maintenance. I figured I’d better record the auditions that were due on Monday morning right away, and not let them slide until Sunday night. If I didn’t have internet service I wouldn’t have a way of delivering the audition files to my agent. So I spent a little time recording and editing those. I made a salad and watched another few episodes of “Honey West.” I really don’t care much for this show, but I’m almost done with the set so I may as well stick with it. It just seems like this show was a misfire on so many different levels.

Sunday the 9th – BLINDS BROKE! – For the most part today was a crash day, and when I got up to raise the blinds in the Tranquility Zone, the cord snapped apart. These particular blinds have a continuous cord that goes through a little gear thingie in the side of the top bar that raises and lowers the blinds. They’re pretty old but still in pretty good shape. Had the cable not come completely out of the gear compartment I probably could have stitched it together and fixed it. But now I had to take the blinds down, take them to a local company, and see if they can fix it. I sat down and scanned some of the old contact sheets and edited the images into separate files for printing later. This is a fun project, but very time consuming (that is, if it’s going to be done right!).

And how was YOUR week?!
