Monday the 20th- CATCH UP DAY! –I slept in, but caught up on a lot of things I needed to do. Things like renewing my insurance for my car and home, checking on airfares for future trips I’m taking, as well as doing some things around the house. Sometimes it’s good just to have a day to yourself to take care of personal things and get your house in order. Today was one of those days!
Tuesday the 21st- BLEACH & BOB’S! –In the early part of the day I did more organizational stuff around the house. I’ve had some houseguests recently so I need to get stuff around the house back to the way it usually is. Later in the afternoon I went to do another voice session for “Bleach” on Cartoon Network. After that was done, I met up with my friend Matt Beckoff from New York at Bob’s Big Boy for our usual Tuesday night group meeting. My pals Sara and Kristy also joined in, as we all sat around telling jokes and networking. Matt hadn’t seen my friend Chuck McCann for awhile, so they had fun catching up as well.
Wednesday the 22nd- ADAM WEST DAY! –Adam West’s son-in-law James is doing a documentary about his day-to-day life. Sounds fascinating since Adam’s existence is so fascinating and diverse. James and his crew came by Planet Wallywood earlier in the day to shoot my collection and an interview with me telling stories about my experiences with Adam. After that, I got ready and headed to the “Family Guy” offices to do some more voices. I knew that Adam would be working that day as well, and James and his crew would be there filming. When I got there they got great footage of Adam and I hanging out, chatting, and having some laughs. Adam told the story on-camera of how we first met back in Sioux Falls, South Dakota back in 1980 and how he “discovered” me and encouraged me to move to L.A. Then Seth MacFarlane came out of the booth and he spoke on-camera with Adam for awhile. I finished my session and then headed back to my house. I stopped off at Long’s Drugs to get some photos printed. That night my friend Ginny and I got some food and caught up.
Thursday the 23rd- BUSY DAY…OR NOT! –I was supposed to be at Mattel in El Segundo to do some more voicework for a toy I voiced recently, but they called at the last minute and cancelled the session since the script wasn’t completely finished yet. So we’ll do it another day. But later in the day I went over to Studiopolis Burbank to record another episode of “The Avengers; Earth’s Mightiest Heroes!” Though I didn’t have much to do as Ant Man that day, most of my lines were for Modok, the hideous floating head creature. It’s always a great time, but today was really great. Lance Henriksen was back with us and he’s always a total hoot. What a great guy! That night I did some auditions and headed to bed early to make an early session the next day.
Friday the 24th- FRIDAY FUN! –We did another episode of “Gormiti” in the morning at Studiopolis Burbank, then I went over to meet my friend Deverill at the Target Range so we could do some shooting. We hadn’t shot together for awhile, and he had never shot his new Walther PPK before. I shot both of mine…my Walther PPK and PPK-S, and Deverill shot his .38 revolver as well as his PPK. We also rented a .45 automatic model 1911, and shot that. Like me, Deverill loved the gun as soon as he shot it. The 1911’s are a very well designed piece of machinery. I bought one, but wouldn’t be able to pick it up the following Monday. Now Deverill is interested in getting one too! After target practice I went to pick up my camcorder at the repair shop. The rest of the day and evening I spent getting my collectibles together for the big autograph show the next day!
Saturday the 25th- HOLLYWOOD SHOW! –My friend Sara and I headed over to the Burbank Hilton Hotel to catch the latest Hollywood Show. It’s an autograph show where you can buy signed photos from some of your favorite stars. My first stop was to meet Peter Graves, from the “Airplane” movies and the “Mission Impossible” TV show. I have been wanting to meet him for quite awhile and here was my chance. Plus he was appearing with my pals Peter Lupus and Barbara Bain. But they were just leaving for lunch, so we were happy to wait until they came back. So my second stop was Carroll Spinney. Mr. Spinney is the Muppeteer responsible for Big Bird and Oscar. I’ve always been a fan and was happy to meet him at last as well. He and his wife couldn’t have been any nicer! I had him sign my “Follow That Bird” DVDs, and my “Follow That Bird” movie poster. I actually had two mint condition movie posters with me. Back in the 80’s when I was living in South Dakota, I used to visit a local movie theatre and buy movie posters for a dollar each. I picked up a spare “Follow That Bird” movie poster thinking that I would keep one and hang the other in my daughter Lacey’s room. When Mrs. Spinney saw the movie poster, she said, “Look how beautiful this is!” I asked her if she had one in her collection and she said they had once, but it got torn. So I told her to please accept my spare poster as my gift. Carroll and his wife thought that was a very nice gesture and they asked for my card, saying that they were going to send me something special. Neat! If that theatre owner back in South Dakota could have known that someday his “Follow That Bird” poster was going to end up in the nest of Big Bird himself, he wouldn’t have believed it! I spent the rest of the day at the show, stopping for a bit for lunch with Sara, and having a great time. I had brought some stuff for Christopher Lloyd to sign, but I heard early on that the wait for his autograph was about four hours. I decided to save my money and enjoy the show. That night Sara and I were tired so we just relaxed, watched some ‘Land of the Giants’ on DVD and ordered pizza.
Sunday the 26th- GOD AND GROCERIES! –I slept really late into the afternoon, but then got up and for no apparent reason, started to reorganize my DVD collection. I’m finding it increasingly difficult to find space in my DVD cabinet for all my DVDs. Even though many of them are ones I no longer watch. So I weeded through my TV Show section and started organizing to make things easier to find. And it actually worked out pretty well. I was able to move enough stuff around to accommodate almost everything I needed to put away. But I’m going to start digging into my movie DVDs and weeding out some of those I no longer watch. I think I’ll just have a big old sale on eBay someday and get rid of a lot of this stuff. I mean, I hated the movie “Crash” so much I’ll never watch it again. So why is it taking up space in my cabinet? Time to clean that stuff out. Speaking of time, time was running short and it was about time to get to evening church. After church I went over to pick up some groceries, and then headed home to put all the supplies away. That night I relaxed and prepared for the coming week.
And how was YOUR week??!!
