RANDOM PIC OF THE WEEK

Amanda clearly did NOT want her picture taken!

While I had this riff running through my brain all week, I wasn’t quite sure what the song was. I scoured my i-Tunes and found out it’s Ministry’s “Work For Love.” I love how the lyrics equate a love relationship with an actual job. Clever!

Monday the 16th – COOL CHANGE! – I got to sleep in a bit, but when I got up it was a beautiful, cool Monday. I walked Roxy around the neighborhood, and had fully intended to bicycle to work. But time slipped away from me, the phone started ringing off the hook, a ton of e-mails arrived, and I just plain ran out of time. So I had to drive to NBC for “The Tonight Show” taping. But it did allow me to get the car washed at the car wash on the NBC lot. With the spotty rain we got the previous week, my car was looking gross! We taped the show, and I stopped by my box to get my mail. Then I went to McDonald’s to get some drive-thru food, and headed home to wait for my contractor Terry. There was lots of work to do around Planet Wallywood, and he was going to load some equipment into my garage to have a workspace to build in. I grabbed a quick nap on the couch to wait for him. He showed up, we unloaded his equipment from his truck, then went over to DuPar’s to have dinner. Terry’s going to leave for Texas for a quick trip on Friday, so we had to get busy! When I got home I did my auditions in my home studio and hit the hay!

Tuesday the 17th – THOSE !@$+*#@!! TERMITES! – The termite guys arrived early in the morning to start repairing my front door area. While doing some work, Terry discovered some serious termite damage by my front door. Since Terry was already at my house doing work, it was easy for him to give them access to the areas they needed to get to. Meanwhile I was trying to sleep, but it was getting pretty noisy around the house. Plus I was in for a VERY busy day! I headed over to Voice Trax West to do another session for US Airways, then I went over to Bed Bath and Beyond to pick up some supplies. There weren’t as many babes as there were last week, so it was easy to get my shopping done with few distractions. I got home and got ready for “TTS,” went to NBC, did the show, and headed back home. The termite guys had left a real mess, and just took off. Nails and screws were scattered all over my porch, as was wood chips and sawdust. Plus my door wasn’t hung correctly, and there was garbage littered around. Plus, they taped plastic over my doorway so dust wouldn’t get in my house. They took the plastic down, but the tape that held the plastic was still there! I wasn’t happy. Terry, on the other hand, was doing great and making swell progress. He was putting in a new set of shelves above my main showcase for my burgeoning vintage lunch box collection. I managed to grab a nap, and then got up to take Terry and my assistant Sara out to Little Toni’s for a late dinner. I got home, did some auditions in my home studio, e-mailed them to my agents, and then hit the hay. Sara told me that the termite guys were coming back Wednesday to finish the job.

Wednesday the 18th – BIG FUN DAY WITH FUN FOLKS! – When I got up there were no termite guys. In fact, they never showed up the whole day. I called the Homeowner’s Association to inform them. I got a hotline call to be in to NBC at 1:30 for a comedy bit. After I finished the bit I went over to Paty’s to meet up with my friend Alex from Nashville. He was with some friends from San Diego and they were coming to “TTS” that day for the taping. We finished up lunch and headed over to NBC. I got them checked in and then I went in to rehearse the opening announce. After the show wrapped I gave them a quick tour backstage, and then we took off for Planet Wallywood. Even though things were still in a bit of disarray with all the construction going on, they still enjoyed seeing Roxy, Spooky and my collection of stuff. We all went to Jerry’s Famous Deli for dinner, and to meet up with my friends Bill and Camille, two voice actors who are the voices of Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure respectively. Bill has a background in radio that took him through many of the same towns I lived in. We had a lot of common areas and had a great time chatting about our experiences in Midwest radio. But even stranger was the connection that he made with Alex. Come to find out, Bill had introduced Alex and my pal Rob Richards at the El Capitan Theatre a few years ago when they were doing a concert there. IT’S A SMALL WORLD AFTER ALL! What a great time. Alex and his friends hit the road to go back to San Diego, and I headed home to take a quick nap. When I got up I did some auditions and did work around the house. I walked Roxy just as the sun was starting to rise on Thursday morning!

Thursday the 19th – THURSDAY WHRILWIND! – After getting to bed around 6am, I got a hotline call at 9am for an Old Navy job. Since I had a full day already booked, they were able to set up the job at Studiopolis an hour before I was set to record “Tiger and Bunny.” So I sped to Studiopolis, did Old Navy, and then two hours on “T&B.” Halfway into the session I got really hungry. I had forgotten to eat! So I called Sara and had her bring me a Subway sandwich. Then it was off to NBC to record two comedy bits. When those were finished, I went back to Studiopolis to do more “T&B” and finish the episode. I was really starting to drag ass, but my agent called to book me for one more Old Navy session after “TTS.” When we wrapped I sped through the McDonald’s drive-thru and grabbed some quick food. Then it was over to Mai-Tai studio for the evening Old Navy commercial session. By the time we finished, I was beat! I stopped by my box to pick up my mail, and got the final shipment of lunch boxes I was expecting! I got home to see Terry’s progress and was amazed. The shelves for the lunch boxes were great! Though I was tired I started arranging the lunch boxes on the shelves. I bid Terry good bye and wished him a safe drive to Texas. I hit the hay for a good nap! I got up around midnight and did my auditions, and kept working all night. By the way, the termite guys came today (not Wednesday like they said) and finished up the work. I guess my call to the Homeowner’s Association might have had something to do with that.

Here’s a video of the new lunchbox display

Friday the 20th – FRIDAY AT LAST! – I got up for more “Tiger and Bunny” at Studiopolis. Before I left, my assistant Sara stopped by to stay with the Chem Dry guys who came over to clean my carpets. My seamstress Kathy also came by to drop off the freshly cleaned Fembot costume. The feathery marabou on the top and trim was VERY dirty. She was able to clean it up to almost look new! Amazing! I made it to Studiopolis and did a two hour session for “T&B.” When we finished I flew through the Taco Bell drive-thru to get some food, and headed over to NBC to tape “TTS.” When we finished I got home and took a quick nap. Then later I took my pals Brittney and Edi to dinner at Miceli’s for some Italian food. I got home and did some auditions, then hit the hay!

Saturday the 21st – SUMMERY SATURDAY! – I got up late morning to wait for my maids. When they arrived I took Roxy over to Rusty’s for a bath. It was hot out! When my maids finished I picked up Sara, hit the KFC drive-thru and went to my friend Fred’s to hang out by his pool. Brittney and Edi joined us as well. It was a fun afternoon sitting around in the sun (or shade, in my case) and yakking. We took off to go get Roxy from the groomer’s and head home. After feeding Spook Sara and I hit the grocery store to stock up for movie night. Everyone arrived later and we got lots of Comic Con stories and saw amazing photos. We watched “Pardon Us,” Laurel and Hardy’s first feature film. Then we watched the new “Three Stooges” movie on Blu Ray, which was hilarious! When everyone left, I continued working around the house, walked Roxy and fed her, and made myself a jumbo salad and watched another episodes of “Wonder Woman” on DVD.

Sunday the 22nd – SLEEPY SUNDAY! – I slept all day. There I said it. Not ashamed of it, but after the busy week I had I felt I deserved it. I got up briefly at noon to walk Roxy, but promptly went back to bed in cool, air-conditioned comfort. I got up in time for evening church services, and walked Roxy over to the church. The sermon was about “resting!” How appropriate! Roxy sure loves church, especially the end when she gets lots of pets and hugs. As people were filing out, I took her off her leash for a little bit and let her run around the social hall by herself. As I watched, she went up to each person who were still seated, one by one, and greeted them. What a great ambassador! Then I took Edi and my pal Amanda to dinner at Coral Cafe. When I got home I started Mapquesting my routes to my Monday gigs, and prepare for the new week. This coming week would be the final week of “TTS” tapings before we take two weeks off for our Olympic break. When I hit the hay I was ready for some serious sleep!

And how was YOUR week??!
