I felt that his hair wasn’t styled quite right, and the beautiful medium brown wig we found was looking a little dark. All of the product that was added to the styling had darkened the wig’s natural color, so Sergio washed it all out and we started over again. This style was looking much more “M00re” and the brown color had returned. The previous style was looking just a tad too “shellacked” for my taste. Once Sergio set the wig with the curlers we went to Paty’s to grab lunch while it set. Then we hit Nigel’s Beauty Supply and got some hair spray called Aerogel, which had been recommended by my stylist for a more natural looking hold. When we got back Sergio did the final touch-ups to the hair and it looked fantastic! The backdrop for the display is going to be amazing as well. My pal and graphic designer Scott Sebring was able to take an image from the Funhouse scene in the film “The Man With The Golden Gun” and enlarge it to be used as a giant backdrop banner. I’ve been in communication with a local printer who can make it a reality. It’s all coming together nicely! I did a little work on the computer, and typed out Wally’s Week. My gal Angi came over so we could go do a “birthday eve” dinner at Little Toni’s. Then I came home to relax a bit, and I took my nightly WOG (walk/jog). Afterwards I enjoyed the soothing ambience of the night in my anti-gravity chair; pondering life and being another year older.

Tuesday the 6th – WHEN I’M 64! – Since it was my 64th birthday, my pal Chris Malmin invited me to a birthday lunch, so we headed to Paty’s to enjoy the day eating on the patio. I picked up a few packages at my box, which included some elements I needed for my James Bond display. Unfortunately the fake crows I bought ended up being a bit smaller than I had hoped, and the Golden Gun replica ended up being a little bigger than I hoped. But I’m sure we’ll get it to work out somehow. The Golden Gun is a 3D print from London, and it looks pretty sweet! It does need a coat of shiny gold paint, however. But I’m sure my pal Mike McGee at Alex In Wonderland will know exactly what to do with it to make it look stunning. I went over to the Sign Studio in Burbank to tell them exactly what I need for a backdrop for the 007 exhibit at Monsterpalooza. I struck the pose to approximate the size of the finished figure and they took measurements. Then I went home to do a little work before my pal Officer Mark picked me up for a birthday dinner at the Smoke House. YUMMY! I came home to do auditions, take my nightly WOG, and do some final work for the day.

Wednesday the 7th – “MAN, I CAN!” – Kelly Delcambre has been busy building a custom mannequin for the Roger M00re figure. He brought it by today to see how it looks when everything is put together. Once we dressed it in the black suit and dress shirt, we put the newly coiffed head on top. Then we put the hands on and – VOILA! It was looking pretty sweet! We still had some tweaking to do on it, but it was really coming together nicely! We paused for lunch at Bob’s Big Boy, and then returned to finish up the work and take some notes. Kelly needed to add some padding to the shoulders and back, and around the waist. The plan is to have him return with the updated mannequin next Wednesday, and to have Alex In Wonderland stop by as well to make alteration notes. After Kelly left I got on the phone with my pal Edi Lurie. We started talking about certain “vocal” groups from the 60’s and 70’s, and we got off on a tangent talking about groups like Liz Damon and the Orient Express, Spanky and Our Gang, and The Ray Conniff Singers. Her husband Elliot reminded me that the latter group had recorded an entire album of covers of early 70’s hits – including the song he wrote and sang “Brandy (You’re a Fine Girl)!” I just HAD to hear this! I brought it up on YouTube and it was comedy gold! I just HAD to find this album and order it! I also ordered a Best of Liz Damon CD to play during those moments when I’d be in the mood for hearing some good vocal music. Later I took some items over to Alex In Wonderland so she could get started on them. I needed some tweaks made to the Roger M00re dress shirt and suit before we met with Kelly next Wednesday for the fitting. I also gave some prop items to her husband Mike so he could start working on painting the Golden Gun and constructing some set pieces. On the way home I got some groceries, and then went home to relax for a bit. I did my WOG and then did some video editing before bed.

Thursday the 8th – A TASTE OF SUMMER! – As it was a semi-day off, I slept pretty late. I got a call from Edi asking if I wanted to grab lunch, so we met at Paty’s for some afternoon eats. I hadn’t seen her in a while so it was good to catch up. I picked up a package at my box and then headed home to do some work. Later in the evening I set up my home studio for a quick video game session. We hardly ever do sessions in the evening, but we scheduled this one later than usual to accommodate the schedule of several of the producers in Japan (who would also be on the line). It was for a character that I’ve done several times before, so it was fun to revisit him – even if just for a short while. When we finished I recorded my daily auditions and relaxed. Later I took my WOG and it was delightful. In fact, the coming weekend was going to be hot (just like I like it!) and I was looking forward to it! I spent some time in the anti-grav chair staring at a gorgeous, ¾ full moon. As it dipped below the visible horizon I bid the moon good night, and came inside to scan some checks for a deposit and make some spaghetti.

Friday the 9th – FRY-DAY! – For the next three days our high temps in L.A. are expected to reach 100 degrees! My kinda weather! When I got up just before noon I noticed it was warm in my house, so I cranked on the AC for the first time this year. The maids were on the way and I didn’t want the ladies having to work in a hot environment. When they walked in the house one of the ladies said, “Oh! Your house is so fresh!” (I think she meant “cool,” but I took her meaning) They were grateful for the cool atmosphere. When they finished I headed to the bank to make a few deposits. After coming out of the bank I got hit with a warm beam of sunlight, and I froze. MAN, this felt good! I just stood there and basked in the warmth and the light for a while. Then, it hit me. The smell of grilling steaks! It’s then I had, what I’ve always called, a “moment.” It’s one of those instances where you feel that all is right with the world. The feeling of the sun and the smell of the steaks took me back to the days of being a kid, and dad was grilling steaks on the grill on a hot summer night. The memory flooded into me like a wall of water! NICE! I went home and worked around the house and anticipated the nice, hot weekend. Later, after relaxing for a bit, I took my nightly WOG and subsequent “cool-down” time in the anti-gravity chair. As I had anticipated it being a nice, warm night – I got out a nice cigar and enjoyed it under a nearly full moon. VERY pleasant! Once the moon dipped below the horizon I bid it a “good night,” and then headed back into the house to do some work.

Saturday the 10th – SURPRISE! – I got up early to visit my stylist Andie for a touch-up on my color. Then I headed back to nap the afternoon away in a cool, dark A/C controlled bedroom! WONDERFUL! Later my gal Angi stopped by for my birthday surprise. She took me over to Barone’s for dinner and we were joined by Chris Malmin and Vickie Sebring. A lot of my friends were out of town for the Mother’s Day weekend, so we were missing having them with us. But it was a blast, and the food (as always) was amazing! With a full tummy I came back home to relax. Later I went outside to do my WOG on a gorgeous, warm night – and followed it up once again with a nice cigar in my anti-grav chair. It’ll be the last warm night we’ll have for a while, but I really enjoyed this early “taste of summer.” The moon was mostly full and was absolutely gorgeous. But clouds were starting to form in the sky which dimmed the moon’s plentiful light considerably. I came back inside to do some work and prep for my traditional Saturday Night Super Salad and some old TV shows. But as I was bringing something out of my new refrigerator I accidentally bumped the plastic bin on the refrigerator door and it came crashing down! A quart-sized plastic container filled with Italian dressing from Little Toni’s crashed down on the floor and split wide open! I had been promising to divide that container into glass bottles for a week, but never got around to it. RATS! Oil and vinegar dressing was all over my floor! The smell of the vinegar was bad enough, but the bits of Parmesan cheese had been thrown everywhere as well! I couldn’t believe that the door on my new fridge could come off that easy! I carefully studied the design of the door’s interior and the bin, and determined that it was a lousy design! But it looked like when the fridge was originally set up, the bin hadn’t been snapped firmly into the little notches on the inside of the door. I couldn’t remember if that was something I did, or the guys who delivered it, or maybe it came that way from the factory. In any event, I made a mental note to never let that happen again. After about a half hour of intense work, I got all the dressing cleaned up. Not only did I go through an entire roll of paper towels, but I also mopped and vacuumed! What a job! But even though the floor was clean, it still had a slightly slippery, oily feel – at least to my bare feet. This was a problem, as somebody is going to come into my kitchen at some point and slip and fall. I needed to do something about that. I made my salad and watched an episode of “Boris Karloff’s Thriller.” Even though it starred a “pre-Dr. No” Ursula Andress (my GOSH was she beautiful!) it was a pretty lousy episode. It also starred one of my favorite character actresses from that era; Jeanette Nolan. But the make-up was awful, the story was clunky, and there were so many accents going on it was tough to hear. Plus, the way the “Thriller” DVDs were mastered isn’t very good. The music is VERY loud, while the dialogue is quieter. So I have to stay on the remote to keep bobbing the audio up and down.

Sunday the 11th – AND THEN IT “DAWN-ED” ON ME! – As I spent most of the day relaxing, I pondered the best way to remove the oily substance from my kitchen floor after the great “Italian dressing” fiasco. I decided to put some warm water in a bucket and add some Dawn dishwashing liquid to it. After all, it’s known to cut grease and oil pretty well. I got down on my hands and knees and scrubbed some of the warm, soapy water onto the floor. I let it sit for a while, and then mopped it up. VOILA! It worked very well! The floor was back to its old self. I recorded some auditions, and then took my nightly WOG. Even though it was a little cooler out I still spent some time outside in the anti-grav chair post-WOG. The moon was full, but it was pretty cloudy. But all in all it was a wonderful end to a pretty great week!

And how was YOUR week??!!

PIX FROM THE WEEK

Kelly Delcambre dressed and posed the Roger M00re figure to get an idea of how it will eventually look.
