Recently, the amazing Palisades Toys released the
first wave of "Invader Zim" action figures.
(CLICK HERE for an article on Wally on the Palisades Toys site!)
Included in the set are Zim, Gir, Ms. Bitters, Dib and Tallest
Purple. The second wave of figures (due around
October of '05) will feature Wally's character Tallest
Red. But until we have the opportunity to buy the
real thing, here's a page that will help you customize
a Tallest Purple figure to a Tallest Red.

Before the repaint began, Wally was e-mailed one of
the original color model sheets by Rikki Rosearik
Simons, colorist on the show and voice of Gir. That way
he could have an easy reference while shopping for paints.

Wally used all enamal paints, similar to model paint,
that can be easily obtained at any quality craft
store. He chose to go with a slightly lighter green
for Red's skin than the shade used on the Palisades
paintjob. He did this by mixing white with a tiny bit
of yellow-green. Then he added another tiny drop of
yellow to get the perfect "minty green" shade. He
also decided to stick with the original model sheet
color for Red's hands; green rather than black. He
also decided to paint Red's feet a darker gray.

For Red's armor, he used a flat red for the cuffs, and
a maroon metallic for the main body. The contrast of
the flat red and the shiny metallic maroon makes it
even more stunning when seen in real life. For the
lighter areas on Red's armor, Wally mixed white with a
tiny bit of the flat red paint. Then he put in a tiny
bit of gray to tone down the "pinkish" quality it had.

There are an infinite combination of color variations
you can create to make your Tallest Red figure look
just the way you want. Have fun! And keep a good
supply of paint thinner and small brushes handy!

Notice that Tallest Purple has a tiny Tallest Red
hand puppet that he's playing with!
