"The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh"
One of Wally's favorite Disney films is FINALLY coming out on
DVD, almost in time for Halloween! "The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh", also
known as "Dr. Syn Alias the Scarecrow" was seen on TV as a 3 part
mini-series in the 60's, and as a feature film in theatres (hence the two
different titles). Scarecrow fans have been waiting for Disney to release
this film for a long time, and now it's a reality! All sorts of technical
upgrades have been made to this film to make it look and sound amazing, and
BOTH versions will be on the DVD. Wally was honored when DVD producer Stan
Deneroff asked if they could use his replica Scarecrow costume as set
dressing for the Leonard Malton wrap-around segments on the DVD! In
addition, Wally put Stan in contact with George Patterson, one of the former
members of The Wellingtons, the quartet who sang the "Scarecrow" theme
song. George's interview will be on the DVD bonus materials as well!
(George is a fellow Elder at the church Wally attends!) Click on these
links for more information on the Scarecrow DVD, and to access Mr. Maltin's
website! "Larry Storch Surprise Party" Wally flew in comic legend Larry Storch, one of Wally's voice-over heroes. Larry will do a wonderful cameo in Wally's short film "Livin' On a Prayer." But while Larry was in town, Wally and Larry's manager Matt Beckoff put together a surprise birthday party for Larry's recentl 85th birthday! Many celebrity guests were on-hand for the festivities and Larry had a wonderful time. Click here for a few of the photos from that magic evening!
At the Hollywood Collector's Show in Burbank Wally realized a 20 year dream to meet the man behind the brilliant character Pee Wee Herman. Paul Reubens signed autographs and posed for pictures at the show in January. A huge Dark Shadows Celebration took place in Hollywood on Thursday October 26th! Wally and his friends had a BLAST! Click Here for more info! ALICE IN WALLYLAND! Thursday August 17th Wally saw Alice Cooper in concert at the Ventura Theatre in Ventura, CA. Afterwards, he went on Alice's tour bus to say hi and to offer sincere thanks to Alice for his participation in the "Groovie Goolies" Docu-Comedy, which will be on the DVD release of the 70's cartoon show in late October. The concert was amazing, and when Alice comes to your town make a point to catch the show. And be sure to tell bass player Chuck and drummer Eric that Wally says hi!
