Sunday May 16, 2004 Bob Zmuda produced a tribute to the 20th anniversary of Andy Kaufman's death at the House of Blues in Hollywood. But the surprise at the end of the evening would be a walking tour through an exhibit of Andy memorabilia and artifacts in the very apartment where Andy lived in the late 70's! Bob had contacted the owner of the unit and he agreed to let hundreds of people walk through his living room looking at the exhibit. Andy's "Heartbeeps" costume and his original performance costume (complete with mannequin) from Wally's collection were on display, with many other items from Bob Zmuda's personal collection.

At the end of the night, it was Tony Clifton himself who led a candlelight vigil to Andy's old apartment, which was within walking distance of the House of Blues. Tony and Wally lead the crowd down the street to the exhibit, but by then it was 2:00 in the morning. And since it was an occupied apartment complex, the hundreds of people waiting to see the exhibit, had to keep as quiet as possible. But the hushed environment, which was born out of the necessity of not disturbing the neighbors, actually created an eerie environment in the exhibit. It lent the whole scene a solemn, respectful aire as people slowly walked through looking over the many items displayed there. People were finally ushered out about 3:30 in the morning!!

Blvd., and down LaCienega in Hollywood.

Leading the candlelight vigil to Andy's former
apartment, is Tony Clifton and Andy's performance
partner Little Wendy.

Tony tries to keep the noise down as the trek to
the exhibit begins.

In one corner, Wally's original Andy Kaufman
performance costume adorns his mannequin, along with
other Kaufman memorabilia.

In another corner of Andy's old living room, sits
an original t-shirt from Uncle Andy's Funhouse, Bob
Zmuda's original referee shirt from Andy's wrestling
bits, Andy's original Fakir bottoms from one of his
Letterman appearances, and Andy's "Heartbeeps" costume
from Wally Wingert's collection.

When the visitors first walked into the exhibit,
one of Andy's Tony Clifton costumes began the display.
Also pictured here, Andy's original Stage Make-Up
book, his Slim Whitman mustache, his Tony Clifton cuff
links and whiskey flask, an original wrestling release
form, and his prosthetic Tony Clifton teeth. An Andy
DVD plays on the bigscreen TV.

In the far corner guests were shocked to see
Andy's original Tony Clifton costume on a mannequin,
along with a poster of Andy as Tony from the Carnegie
Hall performance.
